Meet the Artist

"My work has been referred to as illustrative. Many times I utilize symbolism and imagery from my childhood, coupled with animal imagery like, fish, swans and jungle cats. I have been concentrating on paintings of endangered species as my subject matter, tigers, jaguars, etc. I am utilizing large stencils of my own creation, stenciled over free flowing abstract colors. Hopefully these images and patterns signal and warn we humans, beware the plight of endangered animals; a preview of our new world order?"

"Most recently, with the outbreak of COVID 19, I have turned more to my drawing roots. Secluded within the Covid walls of my existence, the import of my imagination as an escape from the news and media, has become more and more essential to warding off depression. Creating my own surreal worlds as a coping mechanism has been my push with these portrait "Hallucinations". Creating universal imagery that others can identify with during these times, is my visual mission. Utilizing colored pencils and paint, my images of human heads inhabiting a sea of invasive, yet, somehow surreally floating bubbles, invite the viewer to question their own vulnerability in these crazy times! The inhabitants of these infected worlds co exist, much as we do with the intrusive virus that threatens."

"My favorite tool is my imagination and building the composition around the central theme. A central theme I continually exploit is the fragility of the human condition versus our never ending quest for survival and hopefulness."

"I tend to be a visual junkie, addicted to images that stir up past memories. I collect pictures, both physical hard copies, as well as mental ones that ring my artistic bell. They inspire me and take me on mystical journeys to places only my mind can explore. I want to take the viewer, via my realistic style, images and theme to destinations that don’t exist in our world. I deal in what I feel are universal images that the viewer may find familiar."
